Actually the marketing of CUDA is pretty accurate so if people think GPUs will speed up any given task is simply their own problem of misunderstanding the issue. But the whole CUDA thing definitely is successful for a number of projects like those guys with CT models, high-def movie encoding, Elcoms...

But how significant are those tasks. Are we talking about speed gain of 1%,5%, 10% or even 300% (for th...

Stur : What you said has no connection to what I said. They exist so they have to be legal or you risk the situation that you can't defend yourself. I once defended myself with brass-knuckles against two attackers and one of them had a telescopic baton. If I hadn't a weapon I would probably end up b...

I guess it was obvious that our beloved math can solve a wide array of possible problems. Now the questions is, if it's worth the hassle to implement such a feature. That's what's this topic is all about. Is it worth it?? I say confidently yes (even when I imagine the fuss with every ray shooting te...

Ian : I don't understand. Have you seen the Vray video?? Probably not  The Vray thing is described as a realtime preview. Not a word about truly realtime raytracing, Opengl or Direct-3d (check the chaoticdimension forum for yourself). From what you can see in the video it's too not 100% real-t...

Also if the "aerosoft" feature, or any other feature available in comercially available software packages is such a mandantory one for you, then go ahead and buy them. Already bought a few ;) And this thread isn't about me but about the renderers - and not just the indigo renderer. Share your love ...

Who cares if it's not physically correct when it looks good Me... If you don't care then feel free to go play with mental ray or any of the other physically incorrect renderers out there. Do you use physically correct ior maps, roughness maps and bump/displacement maps for your renderings only?? Oh...

Past-present-future features of unbiased renderers
I would like to hear all your suggestions for future features or suggestion for current feature modifications. Here's my attempt : Sky&sun system Current sky systems in unbiased renderers are so limited. Yes they are likely to be physically correct but they give you only 5% of what skies can look li...

Technically it looks identical to what Ian did for his radium renderer earlier :) I posted few topics about it here and there on several other forums but it didn't get any reaction. It's a VERY handy feature and I hope that with some publicity from Vray, other renderers will catch on and implement i...
