Adding downloaded materials to the presets?

Post by nufu » Thu Feb 11, 2010 2:05 am

Hi all,

Just started looking at indigo as a secondary renderer (use vray at the moment)

Is it possible to add the downloaded materials from this site into the indigo presets in material editor? Or even a shared preset folder on a network?

Thanks for any info!

Presets are read dynamically from /Scripts/Maxigo/Presets folder. But the materials there are not using any texture maps. It should be possible to use materials from material database too, but it could get a bit messy cause the system wasn't designed for it.
First you need to rename your .igm file to .zip file and then unpack it. Then you have to place the files inside (.igm + all textures) under Presets/SomeDir and then you have to render 64x64 pixels jpg image with the same name as igm and place it where the igm is. Uh.. so as you see it's a bit of a hack.

And since those are presets then you can't use blend mateials. You're better off downloading materials to some folder and just import them from there.
