hi all,
a simple question: is it possible to use 3ds max native multi/sub object material with indigo and maxigo?
I'm using the latest beta version of indigo, and indigo can't recognize the kind of material that I'm using, but it is a simple 3ds max native multi/sub object and each sub mat slot contain an indigo mat.

Hey,
Yes, the multi material should work just fine.
To what geometry format are you exporting?
Also what error message do you get?

hi
I post all the screen shot of the messagefor any export possibility given by maxigo. So if I separate the geometry and give to any part an simple indigo mat all run well.

Yes, seems like the materials are not exported from Max.
But that's all I can say. I juggest you to wait for the next Maxigo version.
It could solve the issue.

hi suvakas,
thanks for your support.
You are in right, the exporters run well with the sub/objcet mat, I encontered this problem only when an indigo emitter is present in one of the sub mat slot.
the exporters can't recognize the tipe of mat when this is an indigo emitter.
have you any idea how too solve this problem? standard emitter don't emit nothing.

Well.. in current Maxigo the emitter material is actually not a material (internally).
Emitter in Indigo used to be a special type of mesh and it became a material only recently. It is presented as a material in Max because it is more convenient to define a meshlight like that.
Maxigo doesn't currently read the emitter as a material. So nope, you can't use it inside multi materials. You can only apply it to whole mesh and then the mesh gets exported as emitter type with no material at all.
One workaround could be to detach the faces you want to emit light from the main model and apply emitter material to them.

I just finished converting the old emitter material into a "real" material.
So in next Maxigo version you can sure use emitters inside multi-materials.

Yeah, it is very cool.
Thanks Ono for those awesome features !!
I forgot to mention - light layers will be supported too (finally).

Ah, even cooler.
And that last render could be a nice minimalist art piece
