New to Indigo - can someone please explain one or two things

Post by jtm » Tue Aug 30, 2011 9:37 pm

Hi there,

The pictures seem good out of this renderer (particularly motion blur on GPU which is a great thing).

A couple of questions (and yes, I have looked exhaustively around but no avail).

1. How do you render animations out to, say, exr. I see no normal method of saving images. (or at least the most counter-intuitive interface ever - why isn't maxigo like every other renderer interface in terms that it gets a common render panel instead of being different).

2. How do you change shutter speed for motion blur (mines greyed out - again nothing in the docs about that).

3. How do I switch on GPU acceleration - it's also greyed out - and alas, nothing in the docs about this.

Thanks

James

Hey,

Maxigo is a script. That's why it isn't under render panel (not possible to code render plugins with maxscript).
Animation support is very much experimental and probably is not working atm.
You should be able to change shutter speed if you switch to camera tonemapping.
You can enable GPU on Indigo UI under Render settings.

Thanks for the reply Suvakas - appreciated.

I have looked at render settings and the GPU is greyed out and therefore no available (I have a NVidia 480M card which works with iray, arion and octane renderers). Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks again and well done on getting motion blue working on an unbiased renderer with GPU assistance. You are the first with this :)

You have to stop the rendeing before turning on GPU mode.
Or did you try it this way already?

Also be sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card.

Also, make sure you use single directional Path Tracing as this is currently the only render mode that is GPU supported.

I am not sure what this is called in the Maxigo interface (I use Blender).
