Blendigo not functional for Blender 2.93LTS and 3.0

It looks like there is a update needed soon for Blendigo, as it does not appear to be compatible with Blender 2.93LTS and up.
This would be an opportune moment to add settings there were already missed in the last update.

1. The max path depth is missing
2. Optimize for denoising is missing

Exporter works fine w/ 2.93LTS, but not in 3.0+ (Python API changed)

This is all I get...
I also have BlendLuxCore installed, but that should not be an issue.

macOS 11.6.1 (Big Sur)
Blender 2.93.7 [LTS]
Blendigo 4.3.0

Where did you obtain Bendigo 4.3.3?

I also run a win10 installation on Bootcamp and the .msi Installer for the stable release only offers Bendigo 4.3.0 installation.

On macOS, Bendigo isn't part of the Indigo install. It has to be downloaded separately and installed like other Blender addons. I don't see a 4.3.3 version available for download in the Blednigo section of the forum.

Edit: I see that the Blendigo version available on the Github page is 4.3.3. Just remembered to check Github, so I'll give that a try.

Bendigo 4.3.3 works with Blender 2.9.7 [LTS]

Installation isn't as simple as downloading the zipped file and installing it through Blender's preference->Addon "Install" menu.

Thanks Headroom!!!

For hinting about Github, I will try that one out for 2.9.7, I had the same experiance as you
before with 2.9.3, nothing showing at all in render menus.

But anyway.. I'm teaming up with you shouting in the woods here... hopefully there will be somebody
taking up support for Blendigo again and make a proper release for 3.0 and onwards...

I have hoped for a long time that the Blendigo exporter would see some development time, but I believe that is unlikely to happen. My Python skills are rudimentary at best - in the past I've added missing buttons to the Blendigo UI - but even if they would be up to snuff, at this point I am not sure it would be worth the effort.

Judging by the participation of the developers on this forum, or the almost complete lack of it, I am wondering if Indigo is still actively being developed. It would really be a shame if such a wonderful tool would vanish into obscurity.

If it is still being developed, I would be willing to pay for a more developed Blender plugin, that might be able to match the functionality of the LuxCore Render plugin for Blender.

Ah, so old Luxrender is still alive, how do you experiance that nowadays ? only suited for certain situations or?

Frankly I've got to admit its very tempting to just go with the flow, and stick to blenders own very actively
developed renders cycles and eevee...

But as you say, very sad to see Indigo fading away... I cant put my finger on it, but the kind of realism feeling
I get with Indigo is hard to beat with anything else...

Just to be clear, I am not moving away from Indigo, unless it just stops being and I am forced to.
That does not mean, however, that I don't look over the fence and evaluate other tools and if suitable, add them to my arsenal of tools.

CyclesX is certainly interesting but is a tool that serves a somewhat different purpose. So is Unreal Engine. Different tools with a focus on different aspects of rendering with overlap.

BlendLuxCore has a very strong Blender integration and that makes it attractive to me. I also find it similar enough so I can use is to develop a scene that I might later create a final render for in Indigo. For example some of the things I do require more than 8 light layers. In LuxCoreRender you need to modify the plugin (very easy to do!!!) to be able to use more than 8 light layers, but then you are limited to CPU renders only.

I was thinking about swithing into Lux but situation there is similar: it is developed very slowly. But most important thing is Lux is slow, very slow, about 2-3 times slower then Indigo.
Blendigo Dev said that there will be blender 3.0 version, but I don't know when. There are many small glitches like lack of denoising, missing filters, MLT settings and so on, but don't know if they will be fixed.

I was thinking of moving to Blender as the exporter seems to still be in development.
How exactly do we install the latest Blendigo build.

I went to the github and the latest Release is 4.2.5.
Ive never used github.
The ReadME is just the description of the plugin not any sort of readme to help us get started.

The exporter seems to get updated when a new version of Indigo (stable, or Beta) is released. Those updates mostly are concerned with compatibility with the latest version of Blender at the time of the new Indigo release.

So, for example the latest Indigo Beta is 4.6.4.
The latest Blendigo Exporter is 4.3.4 and works with Blender 3.3. It also works with the previous beta of Indigo 4.6.0.

If you are working on a Windows computer, Blendigo is located in your user directory.

Obviously you'll have to replace my user name with yours ;-)

Then on github you can download the Exporter sources as a Zip file:
Screenshot 2022-10-12 175943.jpg
Unzip that file and in the "Sources" folder you'll find the same "Indigo_exporter" folder.
Simply move the folder and its contents into the aforementioned user directory and start Blender.

The plugin should then appear in the Addon section of the Blender preferences and needs to be activated:

I changed my own copy of the exporter and added some parameters to the Blendigo UI. This required only minor changes to two files in the Exporter sources and I can share those if there is interest. I've also contacted the maintainer of the exporter of the Github repo to see if he's interested in adding these to the Github repo.

The GPU Max Path depth is exposed if the render mode is set to Path(GPU) or is set to Custom with GPU rendering enabled:

And finally for those few that still use BIDir MLT, when the render mode is set to custom and Metropolis is enabled the following parameters can be edited:
