Updated Blender Plugin

Post by vasco » Thu Oct 05, 2017 7:56 am

I think I am saying that for many of the Blender users.

I would buy Indigo 4 when there would be a good and updated Blender Plugin. I even would donate extra money for a good plugin. So am using the Radeon pro render in the moment, which has a good, but not perfect Blender support. So please Ono and the other developers get someone who does the job, and I will buy Indigo and plugins again. Thank you.

We actually have a new/adapted blender plugin in the works, it should be just about releasable, hopefully in the next few days.

Just to say, I've had much success with the current Blender plug-in! One thing that could be improved is taking advantage of Blender's material nodes, but overall it has been smooth sailing.

I'm curious how the Radeon plug-in stacks up against it, I'll have to take a look.

What I am currently miss is the possibility to render animations on GPU and I would be happy if I could do this inside blender close to cycles. Also things like convert cycles Materials, which is helpfull to use cycles models.

Here is a list what I would also wish:

(-material nodes)
-viewportshading for > Material, Textures
-Render viewport (CPU/GPU)
(-Material Preview)
-better integration of the Material Library
-
I don't want to say that the current Plugin is bad, but it could be better.
Especially when I look at the cinema 4d plugin for indigo.. my opinion.

I have no problem rendering GPU animations with Blender and Indigo. Just enable Path (GPU)? :)

Tried to use GPU on my VEGA 56 graphics card, export was okay but the render crashed my whole PC.
Then I wanted to try it again but I cannot activate blendigo anymore in Blender.

Here is what the console says:

Okay blendigo is working again, but it seem that my Radeon vega is not working with Indigo  I already read thats possibly a driver bug. But ohter programms like Cycles, Lux and Radeon Pro render are working fine with OpenCL....

the whole pc freezes, including mouse. only thing I can do is hard reset. same thing with the second scene in Indigo Benchmark.

Edit: Had similar crashes in some games, then turned my power supply from multi-rail to single-rail (Corsiar 850rmi) and the crashes are gone, but not in Indigo.

Sounds like a driver bug (or even a hardware issue!)

If AMD sends me a Vega I'll look into it :)

Eager to see new plugin implementation. Lack of good Blender plugin is why I did not upgrade yet to Indigo 4. And now I switched most of my work on other render engines, which means I will not upgrade ever. Current Indigo plugin is not bad, but there are a lot quirks that are just not good for everyday production. And when you compare workflow with Cycles or any other render engine nowadays it just to cumbersome ... Also I do not think it is going to be possible to have viewport rendering implemented due Blender GPL license, unless not that easy, many 3rd party render engine devs are having this problem, and usually just give up.

Blender viewport rendering using 3rd party commercial engines is available with:
- Thea For Blender (@ Forums),
- B-Maxwell (FIRE viewport) but works only with Blender 2.78/2.78a & M~R 3.2.15,
- Octane also.

would be nice, especially with Indigo RT
8)
stay well

Huh? What happens if you hit animation with GPU acc enabled? For me GPU animation works perfectly fine.
