Instances of parented object export problem

Post by Eneen » Fri Jan 22, 2016 11:07 pm

Hi,

I think I've found bug when exporting parented objects. I've made group containing object with mesh and then I've made couple of instances (Alt-D) of it. Blendigo exports only that object and one instance, when more instances are made Indigo says:
ObjectExcep: Frame times must be strictly increasing.
I'll prepare simple scene to illustrate problem.

Best regs.

Hi Eneen. I've exported several scenes with various instances without any problem. Yup, please share a scene to test it out :D

Here you go:

Group is created in scene using "Instance group in scene" command on group using outliners' group view.

hmmmm. Will you look at that! It does seem like a bug. ;) But the problem is not in the instancing but in the way you got your copies. I thought you had created an array but you didn't. How did you get the copies of the cubes to show up on the empties?
Try another simple scene, instance a cube several times and render and you'll see it goes through without a prob. The problem is definitely in the way you're populating your scene.

That's only way I've found to duplicate groups in blender... The title of topic is misleading here, there should be "grouped" not "parented", my bad.
To replicate:
- create cube or two
- group them
- switch to groups view in outliner
- right-click on group and select "Instance groups in scene"
- switch back to scene view and alt-d group

Any chances to fix this (dupli groups) bug?
To replicate (easier way):
- create box
- group it
- shift+a -> group instance -> Group
- select group and alt+d couple of times

It is definitely bug. I can create one instance of group by rightclickin in grp outliner. But as soon as I add one more I got error with Indigo.

Good luck with waiting though.... This is main reason why I am not upgrading.

I workarounded this by using parenting, but it doesn't allow quick addition/removal objects in all "parent instances". That bug can make life harder.

OT - looking for Indigo Renderer + Blender plugin developer

Post by burnin » Wed Mar 15, 2017 12:58 am

can this confirm your assumption?
Indigo Renderer + Blender plugin developer

Hi all!

Glare Technologies is looking to hire new developers to work on our 3D application plugins, to ensure an efficient and production ready workflow for Indigo 4 and beyond. We're now looking for a new developer to work on our Indigo plugin for Blender (called Blendigo). The plugin is open source and currently hosted on Github here: https://github.com/glaretechnologies/blendigo

You will be responsible for tighter renderer integration, implementing support for new Indigo features into the plugin, as well as fixing bugs and responding to user requests. The plugin is written in Python, and some experience with 3D graphics programming would also be great.

Location: We are based in London, UK, and Berlin, Germany, but remote work is fine as well!

Job Type: This is a part-time job, up to 10 hours a week, with the potential for longer hours in the future. Working hours and number are negotiable and flexible.

Contact us for pay and other details at:
contact@indigorenderer

We hope to hear from you soon!

Best,
Team Indigo

Yeah I saw that already :D I wanted to upgrade and to use Indigo in project I just started but will have to go with something else. This bug is really showstopper, and I do not have time check python code myself.
