Hi guys!
I just recently found out about Indigo renderer. Looks like a really nice rendering package. However... You don't seem to have an exporter (is that the right term?) for Rhino. Any plans on developing one? It's obviously not possible to, for instance, export as .obj from Rhino and use Indigo as a stand alone, studio-type, renderer?
Thanks in advance!

Oops, I accidentally posted in the "off topic" section... This should probably be somewhere else. Sorry 'bout that. Any possibility to get this moved to the right section?

Hi Fille,
I moved the topic.
We don't have a plugin for Rhino yet, but we are looking into it/working on it.
Indigo doesn't have the "studio" functionality at the moment (as in it doesn't import obj files currently). You could use Blender to work with Indigo.

Hi
Thank you for moving the topic... It's really nice to hear that you are working on a Rhino integration (also for the Mac?)! This will probably get you lots of new users. Any estimated timeframe for the Rhino exporter?
I know that Blender would be an alternative, but I really wouldn't want to learn a new (very different) program just to be able to render.
Thanks!

Can really give an ETA, but maybe an early beta in the next few weeks.
Are you using Rhino on Mac? It's a bit regrettable that Rhino doesn't have a Mac C++ SDK...

An early beta in the next few weeks sounds very promising!

Great! Looking forward to it.
I'm using Rhino on both platforms - Win and Mac - but Indigo would be for the Mac. On the Windows machine we have been using Maxwell - so far...

That could change
As things has advanced at McNeel it wouldn't really make any sense to develop a plug-in only for the Windows version or only for the Mac version. McNeel is trying very hard to get both platforms to an equal level by/after the release of Rhino V6 (during the first quarter in 2018 according to Bob McNeel).
For the (Mac) development you should talk to Dan Belcher and Marlin Prowell at McNeel. Thank you and good luck!

Files created with Rhino (obj, 3ds) can be exported to Cinema 4D and rendered with Indigo through the dedicated exporter.

Yeah... just one small problem, though. I don’t have Cinema 4D

Nathan Letwory at McNeel asked me to say that you can contact him regarding the Rhino exporter(s):
"they can contact me (
nathan@mcneel.com) directly with questions about integrating into Rhino 6 (and eventually Rhino for Mac 6) using the new integration SDK. I’ll be glad to help them out as well."

Hi all
I am not a Indigo User. The main reason is the missing Rhino Exporter.
Rhino got very popular in interior design and industrial design. Many people are waiting for the exporter.
Would be nice.

Hi Tom!
Nice to "meet" you here on the Indigo forum also. Will the plug-in be for both platforms from the start or will we have the Windows version first - and the Mac version later (how much later - in time for V6)?
I guess the older exporter, you are referring to, doesn't work on OS X?
Anyway... good to know that there is some progress! Thanks!
