aperture diffraction
Can anybody tell me how to use aperture diffraction to get some nice lense flares? Does not work for me...

Re: aperture diffraction
You'll need an obstacle map.
Luckily, it doesn't have to be power of two texture, so you could easily use whatever you find. Generated aperture shape always produces nice results, and there is not much difference between physical and post-process AD, except for the RAM usage.

hmmmm...
already tried path tracing with MLT, and I have tried every obstacle map I can get.. But I never get it like in the manual, see below. There must be another option...

Re: aperture diffraction
i thought it was mentioned somewhere that it doesn't work in 4.0.54... oh, i think this is it:
post by yonosoy... because in the last one the obstacle map is broken...
Re: aperture diffraction
Ah, ok. Thank you for this information. So it's a bug...

Re: aperture diffraction
I think to get lense fares you need to build a lens system in front of the cam.lape wrote:Can anybody tell me how to use aperture diffraction to get some nice lense flares? Does not work for me... Indigo v4.0.54
If you want the real thing. If you looking for an effect only just use different obstacle maps in cam setting.
Re: aperture diffraction
This still seems to be unresolved...
Also, I'd love to know, will you add support for color maps in the future - for that fine detail - true to lens bokeh with slight chromatic aberration which every single lens make. And your engine, even tho it might not be in the mainstream, it surely is top notch to properly simulate photography.
ps.
Corona has it
That's not actually the proper way to simulate chromatic aberration though, right? The "Indigo way" unfortunately - or fortunately depending on your POV - has historically been something like; either do it right, or don't do it at all.
