AFAIK he is interested as he said at the luxrender forum, but he needs
the documentation for the scene file. And if he is as busy as he was in
the last weeks, then it takes even some more time.

nb: If I do remember right, Radiance/Ratow pointed out that it's
getting worked at the documentation and that there will be a feature
freeze till RC5, so lets see what we get. :D ;)

Does Max support python?
There's discussions about making a python library to centralise exporter updates and synchronise exporters across apps - a very different approach to development here.

Anyway, I'm leaving this all behind for a week as of now. I'm officially on holiday 8)

laters.

If I didn't missed something, then I can say no python support
on the 3dsmax side. Have a great holiday! :D ;)

Hey jinj,

Well.. I wanted to write something for the Luxrender a while ago when it all started, but because of the missing documentation I slowly lost interest. They didn't even have a tiniest amount of info available for the scene format they use. Unfortunately I don't have such time in my hands to start figuring it all out by myself (like psor assumed 8) ). It could be fun though.
I still don't understand why they keep the documentation development closed from the public, since after all, it is an open source project.

Also, since I'm not following the Lux development anymore, are there any doc's made available lately?

@suvakas

Let me quote Ratow from this thread.
Ratow wrote: Hey guys,

Yeah, the core developers are doing a great job and development speed is fantastic.
Hopefully I'll be more useful in the exporter department :), helping developers build exporters using all the features available in Lux (which are a lot! :)).

As radiance said, documentation is our main priority right now, so expect some useful stuff soon. ;)

well I am not trying to wind you up buddy but seriously I have come looking to see and well...it seems as I say...um..dead  or very little changed from last time...
perhaps when you get something definite out the door it will pick up - maybe its just not got momentum yet - or perhaps its just the way its presented being slightly inaccessible
more artwork would certainly help showcase the potential and attract new users I think  :D good luck 8)

The developement of Luxrender is quite fast BigFan, some massiv work has been done since the first encounter!
The lack of Artwork done with Luxrender is simply related to the very technical orientated usergroup around Luxrender and the lack of Exporters,
but Lux is heading to its first official 0.1 release, so don't compare it with Software that was developed for years now...

In fact I like the transparency of development in Luxrender, you can allways see what the devs are working on, and have a nice overview of the (fixed) bugs via Mantis.
Something I miss in Indigo :(

>very technical orientated usergroup...and the lack of Exporters

well maybe this is the problem  you guys are doing 'geek' stuff that is technically pleasing to yourselves but its not connecting with would be 'artists'.

perhaps you need the famous Big Fan to bridge the awareness divide :D

re tranparency - I actually have a wee struggle with that cos its not so clear to me whats going on as a non 'geek' :? even the meeting transcripts are somewhat hard to follow
with indigo the forum is sort of user friendly for simple artistic users 8) and I can pick up enough clues to update the script for myself if I want...
lux is not so open to unsophisticated users I think..
it seems to me there are always big changes happening to lux so it would be kind of pointless getting into it until it has been presented as working...and it would actually have to render better than indigo to adopt it anyway...

sorry if I am not explaining that well
