Smashing a blender model

Hi,

I have a model I want to animate being smashed (it will be a metal object). Is there an easy way to do this, or do I just have to manually animate everything?

Thanks

Thanks. That should work. Is there a more accurate script or program available, this one treats objects more like cloth.

Download a build of blender with the new particles system - there are some new ways to "destroy" a mesh in there.

For example:

Awesome, thanks! Do you know how to do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYZ1eybaJHA&NR=1? So far, I only know how to explode a cube (randomly, not into little pieces which fall), and I can't find any tutorials that do anything but that.

Yes, I know it's lame (all around, of poor quality) but one of the videos that Zsouthboy mentions in his post I rendered (blender, internal) using Jahka particles blowing up the monkey model in blender.

If Zsouthboy puts an area up on his site maybe I'll write a tutorial...
