Hi

What can I buy to render animation with indigo? I would like a workstation but it's too expensive, is it possible to buy two core 2 quad (or more) with 4Go of ram and a basic graphic card for 4000-6000 euros?

I realy need help, I don't want to make a mistake :?

Get a quad core with 4gigs, a mid-range graphic card, and a 64bit OS. Desktops where I come from start at under 500€. (you can have a look at this, although I don't know if they deliver to France:

(They're very good. I got mine from them, was delivered within a few days of ordering)

CyberPowerPC.com is good too, but you gotta make sure you remove the ultra expensive graphics card from the configuration, as well as lower the HDD capacity (starts at 500 gb i think) and some other stuff too. I got a REALLY good gaming computer with quad core (read: 17 000 3d mark06) for only 3200. Same comp configured by Dell would have cost around 6000 dollars.

Still sounds quite expensive to me (unless you convert in euros :D ) Did you check that link?

the motherboards on those PC are not so good, you do get what you pay for

best to build it yourself. That way you can get a near silent PC that is also powerful, high quality and runs faster than stock

I do most of my quiet PC research here
http://www.silentpcreview.com/index.php

I can buy all the individual parts much cheaper and put it all together for a good deal less than what you would buy, and you won't get all the quiet parts and nice bits and specs to exactly what you want

Yes but Albotek allows you to do that too. I myself didn't go for the cheapest offer, but was able to save on a slightly cheaper graphic card and smaller HDD. This is convenient for people like me who are downright illiterate when it comes to building your own desktop...

coolcolJ: my computer is really quiet, and the mobo is exactly what i asked for/wanted (asus stryker extreme).

only reason it cost 3200 is cuz its a whole-9-yards gaming comp, i bet if u got a nVidia6200 SE and a 120 gb HD with a half decent mb and nothing fancy, it'd be around 700 for a quad core.

then again, pick up a render node from dell: quad core for 500 bucks

No it will have some high end parts and good quality stuff :)
The videocard is probbaly the most expensive part fo the system

There is a big difference between near silent and quiet - and not all types of quiet is the same :)

I stay away from Dell and all those types, because the upgrade path is extremely limited, and you can't overclock

OC'ing FTW
I cant really say how loud my system is, cuz im constantly playing soft classical music in the background.
