PS3 + Linux + Indigo = ???

Hey guys...

I just read about the possibility to install linux (special Power PC builds) on the PS3.

Could it be possible to run Indigo on such a system (using wine???)

Does anybody of you own a PS3 and could test & Benchmark this?

If this would work, the PS3 could become a "low cost" render machine with a lot of processing power!

So feel free to throw in your knowledge about this!

There already was a thread, about this ;)
PS3 wont support Indigo, due to SSE-flags and some other incompatibilidys... (<- is that right? Appears a bit wrong, but can't find a mistake...)

Radiance knows that in detail...
But maybe, someone can find the thread...
I'm just much too lazy *yawn* :P

In theory, it would work, but no.

Yes, the Ps3 has eight processor cores, but when Linux is used, only one of the cores is even used. Performance is said to be comparable to a Celeron.

Although Indigo can launch multiple threads, so I have no idea. But even still, I don't think it would even run on a PowerPC CPU. Doesn't Indigo need some special hardware extension?
