Apps for viewing spherical renders
I'm curious if anyone knows of a good iphone/android app that would allow you to simply view a spherical render in a sort of "VR" mode similar to how the YouTube app now works with 360-degree videos - ie, you turn the phone around you and it tracks, allowing you to view whatever direction you are looking in the rendered scene. I've been looking around and most of them seem to focus on creating panoramas from the camera and then viewing (and *sharing* them, of course, ugh...), but they don't want to load or display my renders.

Hello Shamus,
You may want to try PPV360HD. It does all that you're asking of it and it's relatively inexpensive @ US $8.
It's got a kinetic option that allows you to immerse yourself in the render. Let me know if you decide to purchase and what you opinion of it is. They also have a free demo if you'd like to try before you buy.
Thanks,
Daniel
