[REQ] interactiv SuperSampling Downsize Filter controle

Post by Zom-B » Thu Jan 14, 2010 3:42 am

Since Indigo is heading to the next final version here a small request:

Since SuperSampling is something that works in "PostProcess" some control would be vary nice!
Changing SuperSampling level is less interesting (since you mostly head for a target resolution of your image!),
I'm talking about changing parameters for Mitchell Netravali and even changing to Gaussian Downsize filter!

By this the user could easily tweak a image SS with direct visual response!!!

This may be solved with IndigoSG. Part of the problem with why we don't make stuff like this available is because it's a bit of a mission to send messages to the indigo rendering process (the xml message passing is ultra robust but also very verbose), when we have a nicer way to interact with the Indigo scenegraph then things like this will be available. :)

I thought The super sampling works on the same level as Tonemapping, whitePoint etc. ... detached from the render progress.

When do we get more info about IndigoSG?! Seems to be a big step forward...

I'm not "autorized" on this topic but better think of it as a concept, this is indeed a big step forward requiring I guess some time and cautious work, you pusher ;)

As Ben suggested it's about the Indigo internal communication pipeline throughout the various processes. This kind of things render an "inertially blocky software" into something more versatile, because piping becomes dynamic (can be modulated according to user needs).

Well that's some free style from me 8) (I have no clues about what the IndigoSG is  )
