Not only with exr, but with jpg or another (tiff, etc)!!!!!!

Is this really needed? If you use a exr lighing u have already a Sun-lightsource naturally. You can add some emitter light, but i don't sure if it works.
And lighting with a jpg is a humbug! Jpg have not enough light information to illuminate a scene.

Hi! I think that sun+exr is useful because with sun you have very sharp shadows like in sunny day, and with exr you have clouds and light changes around 360° (your object shall be illuminated differently around 360°)! I think!
Solution with emitter and exr... maybe good for sharp shadows!! I'll test!

It seems work well exr+sun_emitter... mmmhh! Very good!
Now I must search dimension (x and y) of emitter to simulate real sun shadow. Someone knows some mathematical or geometrical relation between sun and ipothetical object?

I don't think it's trivial. Sun drops parallel shadows, also you have to simulate this. And you must find an exact position of strongest light source in exr image also.

first test with .exr and "sun_emitter"

Too shining on "cu" material! Shadows looks good I think!
Here with sun

Which one? First with exr and emitter or second who has only sun? Also textures?[/img]

Hi Radiance!
Here xml: http://www.8bstudio.com/bonus/chiosco4-exr-emit.zip

Try to change around "linear scale" or meshlight named "Plane"

I hope it's usefull for you!
Bye!

Hi !

I think that one could use LightGen's plugin for HDRShop to define a directional light. Then the rotation has to be translated into a vector, that's a very few maths wich I don't know, sorry... or try to hack into some of the output files format generated, who knows ?

So it's about importance sampling, a simple app or even simpler: send a template of an xml scene with sun to the author:
If you want a new file format, be sure to send me a template for the file that the plugin should generate.
Just ask him to put 1 directional only, then compute the vector ! That'll be so easy I'm sure he will !

Would you ask Radiance ? I'm too new with Indigo to be positive on what features have to be implemented...
