Sun and water

Post by pixie » Fri Oct 19, 2018 10:40 pm

There's something odd with the sun model. Even where water ought to be more transparent, (near the border) it shows it way darker then it should.
With Background it all works as intended

Hey pixie for me the first scene does render different:
I also think your second version with a low dynamic texture emitter does look quite.... unrealistic.
Usually such big bodies of water do reflect the sky colour, therefore your second water colour is that white...

Yeah, really strange. Tested it out, and it's true. The only thing that comes into mind is this question, are you sure you are intersecting the water object with the plane/object below? Seems like there might be a gap or something, and that the sun system is more sensitive to small scale measures, or something? I'm just guessing here, really...could also be that the difference between light sources causes the unexpected results, because the sun system actually produces shadows(photons focusing) whereas the uniform studio light produces uniform lighting, dunno really. :D

I'm testing it out right now with a new scene, and everything works as expected.
