Indigo and C4D Bugs

Post by pavoda » Sat Jun 16, 2018 12:25 am

Hello dear Indigo developers

I noticed the followings indigo bugs

1. Export enimation from C4D to indigo
-When exporting an animation, the indigo camera parameter of a current frame is taken from the previous frame. This is only done when exporting to Indigo. When rendering an animation in C4D it's ok.
For example, the exposure for frame 5 is shown in frame 6. It is all shifted by one

2. Errors GPU rendering for far objects from zero coordinate
- When rendering an object that is far away from the zero coordinate, errors occur in the render. It happens only Indigo and GPU render. Inside C4D it is ok. (Uploaded images)

3. C4D frame step not work.
In C4D, you can set the frame step for animations. But when export to Indigo it does not work. C4D exports all frames.

4. C4D crash
When rendering inside Cinema 4D, the program crash when a lot of textures are used in the project.(about more than 40 textures) The problem started in the cindigo version that brought a realtime preview with the stop and start option.
I mentioned this several times in this forum. -this is a serious bug.

I hope this will help make indigo even better renderer.

i noticed following problem
If use sphere with HDR map to illuminate scene result looks different for CPU and GPU render.
Look to the images.

I have a strange situation. When you transfer scenes from с4d in Indigo lost the light sources. In scene 4 source of light (2 in room - lamp+fireplace, and 2 external - the door+window). In Indigo fall only internal sources of light.
What is it and how to deal with it?!

pavoda,

how many of these issues are still current? I might have a look at them soon (after some other stuff I need to do).

Hi, fused
so:

1. Export enimation from C4D to indigo --- still current

2. Errors GPU rendering for far objects from zero coordinate --- solved

3. C4D frame step not work. --- still current

4. C4D crash --- solved

If you need any demonstration, upload scene or any detailed description tell me how I can help

5. New: C4D crash if press tonemapping in picture viewer while render is not currently runing.

(it is very bad that it is not possible to edit the tonemapping of all the images in the C4D picture viewer, but only just the one currently rendered)

The c4d api is not that flexible unfortunately.

Hey pavoda,

did you put a HDRI on a sphere object here?!
GPU atm doesn't render any sphere primitives, you need to uncheck the "perfrect sphere" checkbox for it to export a sphere mesh.
For HDRIs simply put a HDRI material on a c4d sky object and link that object into the Indigo render setting > environment > sky field.

Thanks a lot for all these bugreports!!!

Can you add the option to save as a igi file from a picture viewer. That would be a good solution

Yes, I know about that, but I was just trying put hdr map to sphere polygon..results are different for gpu and cpu...maybe is it some hidden bug. Try it...

Hey pavoda,

tested & confirmed.
Did a Ticket on the Bugtracker for the devs to fix it.

Thanks again for reporting!

I can do that for sure, but only for the current render. What else I have on my radar is to make the image saving options work when rendering internally in c4d. Someone else requested that I think.
