[Req(ish)] Indigo 5 Request from the future for the future..
//It's not really an on point request just some thoughts how to make Indigo Better.
Feel free to add your ideas to. //
Low Level Machine Learning inside Indigo
It's not so far away as you might think...
LLML ( Let's call it this for now ) could be very useful inside Indigo (IMO)
With a given subset of machines and setup preferences (from a database) a simple ai could monitor the system hardware and constantly optimize the workflow and resources/drivers. (For best performance)
Considering the Indigo scene setup /polycount and statistics from a database of devices / performance of the devices. (CPU/GPU)
HIVE Rendering Indigo
Based on C4D team render. Hive render in Indigo (and supported plugins) would connect to a centralized
server and would allow to render scenes together with other Indigo users. Based on some point system and an opt in/out option. So you could dedicate 5%,10%,20%,40%,50% of your CPU/GPU's power to help render some scene for another user via secure server link (inside Indigo or plugin setup)
Benefit would be that users with lower level system would have top render times. Also top system user would have better render times. And the bigger the Indigo user base the faster this system becomes.
It's not a render farm it's only a buddy system.
Integrated Computer Vision
Integrated computer vision could operate from a rendered database. ( constantly updated and curated )
To find better light optimization for specific scenes such as interiors/product shots...etc.
Based on real world fotos and rendered examples.
Also it could serve as a material correction in specific scenes and lighting situations to get the most realistic render possible with the lowest user interaction.
That's it for now... what do you think?
Hope it makes sense...

1) Automatic updating of the materials database.
2) Smart scenes to facilitate the user; def, vignetting, obstace map. light levels.
3) rendering of the individual objects.
4) through hard materials such as fabrics and anisotropic effects.

you do realize, based on past experience, that you're talking of about 5 years into the future, thus 2021 give-or-take...

That's ok...as the title states, 2021 sounds good.Juju wrote:you do realize, based on past experience, that you're talking of about 5 years into the future, thus 2021 give-or-take...
Let's stay ahead of the curve shall we.
My only concern is the competition and that this ideas stay by Glare....probably not the best idea to post on an open forum. But we will see.
Anyway Juju add your ideas if you feel like it.

Yeah, plenty of room for new features in 4.2, 4.4, 4.6 and 4.8. There's even quite a few more things to do for 4.0.
Re: [Req(ish)] Indigo 5 Request from the future for the futu
Indigo running on OpenCL was quite a massive development task for such a small team and such a complex Render engine.Juju wrote:you do realize, based on past experience, that you're talking of about 5 years into the future, thus 2021 give-or-take...
I could not imagine a feature that could be of similar complexity, so once GPU rendering if finalized and polished development should be faster again
