[REQS] -|"halt_samples"|Safe Exit|Named log files|

Sorry I'm late :D

Take a pack of three, less pollution that way (but more here ;) ). Hu, go !

"halt_samples"

In the same fashion than "halt_time", "halt_samples" will tell Indigo to stop rendering after a certain amount of mutations per pixels (samples).

Aim: to compare different rendering settings (advanced) | to benchmark different machines and renderfarms | to render the same amount of samples for every light of your nice multiflash scene | er, that's it for now | not to mention the fun with that all :D

Safe Exit

It's just about: when Indigo is closed manually, images are saved again before exit. This is not an option ;)

Now if you think at the "halt_time" (and "halt_samples") features, it makes even more sense to save the renders when the program has to exit. Eventually in-between writing operations could be discarded... Yes these two requests come together !

Named log files

This one has drawers :) Basically I would like to have a separate folder for logs alone, like there is one for cached meshes and another for testscenes. And then not to have all of my half dozen of renders writting in the same file in the same time graaaooooooowwww !!!! I never tried to figure out what was inside log.txt after such an orgy :P

So having im1172627344.txt inside the logs folder would be just fine to me...

And then a drawer: mmm Ono, I'm wondering how many type of data you can output in the log files, I'm just curious there. The kind of data that could be used by an advanced user to optimize a certain render setting for a certain render time (you're following the main stream ?)...

Ooops another drawer :D well I reserve this one for a later time...

Hope you liked the pack, cheers all !

PS: the poll is for fun of course !

voted for "halt_samples"

safe exit would be cool, too.

Hi fused !

A special reason for wich you voted this ? I mean, it's not about the poll :)

Anyway, thanks !

halt_samples is realy nice, just as you explained...
I can live without a safe exit, just closing indigo after png, exr's and igi files are written ^^
The named logfiles are interesting too, but I prefer metadata inside the saved PNG files (AND igi files) instead :P

:P

for all the reasons you gave and because of "halt_time" being a very vague guess to when the image turns out nice.

Thx both.

Well I agree Meta data in png's are nice as a summary, personally I'm interested in separate logs... Do you mean whole logs in the metadata or a summary ?

In fact the last drawer was to have data in logs being easily parsed... samples/second are very usefull as a marker for performance.

another small request: overwrite the old igi file after resuming. (no new img98789273498.igi)

just the interesting stuff like rendertime time & sessions, mutations etc. also render machine/network information would be nice.
Inside a indigo log the only interesting information for me are the last few rows of information

But this metadata stuff is coooool but a gadget that nobody will use... :?

But imagine (like radiance once mentioned) a upgraded Indigo web gallery
to to read all this metadate... THIS would be awesome

:P I would like an advice from Ono before talking in public  yeah like that ! If the idea is crap he can tell me right here, that's cool. I don't know how to manage the info about the idea cause I'm not sure of it's relevance... maybe my pm was too confuse, dunno...

But actually I'm sure there is work to put in that direction (maybe a plugin project), it's about allowing some parameters to be dynamic but, heh, for now I won't tell more ;) The fact is that would have an impact on Indigo, wich would then be more production oriented I think, but the whole thing being optional (that is: normal Indigo behaviour otherwise). Some trip I make. A serious request for a plugin API, or maybe something built within.

Ok got the metadata stuff in png, that's a nice idea provided it doesn't corrupt files opening in usual painting packages :P Mmf my fun is more by kneading Indigo rather than producing images, specially I love his noise, seriously ! I'm in 3d for a while now and I'm taking that easy, kinda rest :)

Wow me write, blah !

Hey CTZn, Do You mean like having separate log file for every new scene rendered?
If so, then i'm missing the point... I think the current log file has the data about last rendered scene. Why do you want to have "millions of log files" ? :)

Because, my friend, when I test render I have zillions of instances of Indigo running :D I want to compare these logs too.

You lucky bastard
My Pc can't even handle one.

That's right ;) But that's often in the beginning, when my settings are good I kill the other renders.
