sunsky interface layout suggestion

Post by zeitmeister » Wed Jul 31, 2013 9:52 pm

Hey guys,

to make Indigo GUI more intuitive I would suggest something like that for the sunsky interface:
indigo_sunsky-interface_redesign.png
You could quickly drag or click the sun point in the image to where you want it to be.
PLUS: with the scroll wheel ("extra rotation") you can rotate the azimuth only.
Maybe so you can get rid of the zenith input field.
Or both, zenith and azimuth, can additionally get a scrollwheel for more intuitive setting.

What do you think?
Cheers, David

Indigo GUI would feel more polished having this!

Working with these scrollwheels is really way more intuitive than input fields.

this would probably need to be linked to the model scene date & time, which could be displayed in the same window?

Dumb question, but where is that dialogue located in Indigo? I can't find it.

And generally, for this sort of input, sliding bars are more intuitive than entered values, definitely.

You find it under "Background Settings" in the left outliner.

Thats a great idea. Sketchup already has a slider for time of day and date (month), and you can geolocate the model to get accurate sun position.
