Galileo thermometer

Wow there's happened a lot since I last found me some time and some inspiration to do some 3d-stuff. I must say Ono's the man!
Well this was made for the 3dtotal smc which is running right now. It took a lot of time to get the precedence working since I hadn't used it before. I still think it's a bit weird that the middle of the "drops" aren't coloured, but I'm not sure if it's wrong.

Good job, i've done a Galileo therm too and it's a pain to get precedence right.

Check your normal smoothing, I see facets.

Nice job!

Well, I owe one of those galileo thermometer and I can see no white in the middle of the drops! Another point: to me the drops and their glass "balls" seem a bit "flat", i.e. with almost no reflections from outside...

@zsouthboy: I'm not sure what I can do with the normalsmoothing... It's on and my normals are pointing in the right direction. How do I fix it?

@ave: Yeah they look kind of flat, but they have the same material as the outer shell, so I have no idea how to make them more reflective, or actually how to make it show with the same material.

In your model the glass "balls" are a whole solid or did you model also their thickness and put air inside?
If it is the first, maybe this could explain why you don't see reflections...

Everything is modelled the way I think it should be i.e. the "balls" have a thickness and the outer part has a thickness and the water, both coloured and colourless is whole solids.
