I installed Ubuntu on my workstation about a week ago and I'm planning to install
Ubuntu studio
as well since it seems quite versatile. I made this wallpaper to post on their
Wiki and to use myself of course.
Rendered at 3840 x 2400 for 34h on my quad.
During that time it managed to reach 1800 spp. Some postpro in Pshop.
Large version

Very nice wallpaper indeed !
I have UbuntuStudio too but can't upgrade it to Hardy though...
May i ask something : did you set the height of each of the hexa-thing one by one ?

I started by randomizing their position on the z axis and then position them in order to achieve the canyon like shape that they form. So I didn't have to move them all but quite a lot of them.

OKOK... I asked because i've written a script for Blender (but maybe you used some other software ?) that eases the manipulation of big numbers of objects.

This would be a typical scene for it.
I thought, maybe you've used it...
Congratulation once again: i really like your WP: i'll use it on my Ubuntu Studio too
I love the large version ! That's for 30" monitors right ? My 24" feels way too small

Well 24" isn't that small and I only made it 2560 x 1600 because it said so on the wiki page.
And you were right, I am using blender, and that script of yours looks rather interesting.
