but from 1.000.000+ possible camera setups you chose

I can imagine an even more boring one:
If you slightly shift the cam and let it look down.

Interesting:
- up-looking cam (makes the guitar incredibly big)
- cam that's rotated a bit ( breaks up some lines)
- slightly from the side ( adds depth)

so, shift it down and sidewards and rotate it in the other directions + a bit around the viewing axis^^ Don't get too extreme, though. That could destroy the whole thing ;)

I think you should model a simple guitar stand to set it on. It would add to the realizm.

I'll try modeling a stand and move the camera around, etc and see how it looks, post if it looks good, then I'll be done and I'll finish a project I've had started for a few months.

Here some example i found for interesting camera angles:

etc. just search the CG Society Gallery for guitar to get some camera angle inspiration


Also an more "artistic" intergration with the Backround could be nice, like here:

An combined 3 Picture Series of some close Up details using "extreme" angles an some nice DOF could be possible too...

Otherwise keeping your camera angle you could enhance your picture easily by using the golden cut!
Simply skipping the standard 4:3 format an using for example a 9:16 format to fit your scene is no shame, but the way to go...

finally I would work on the tonemapping, or first on the light color Setup of your picture. A 3 point light Setup with colored lights can add some nice atmosphere here an example.

Your Picture is atm way to redish... to warm colored.
some warm/cold contrast using lights or an colder BG color would enhance your pic. Some contrast in shapes could be nice too (for BG vs FG) but this is more advanced and not always usable.

It's more like 8:13 or even closer 13:21 ;)

Sorry I'll expressed myself not very good here, I thought about skiping the "standard 4:3" aspect ratio of the output image...

well... 16:9 isn't that far off, but it's not one of the best approximation.
The fibonacci values are the closest possible natural numbered approximation values :)

they're shaped like this:

start = 1
0 + 1 = 1
1 + 1 = 2
1 + 2 = 3
2 + 3 = 5
3 + 5 = 8
...
and if you divide them by each other, you get the two golden rations :)
9 is close to 8
16 is close(ish) to 13
so 16:9 or 9:16 should both be pretty close

The exact value is (sqrt(5)+/-1)/2 ;)

it comes from the the equivalation 1/x=x-1, which can be shaped to a quadratic equivalation ^^
x²-x-1=0

the exact values are 1.618... and -0.618...

ZomBNot at all, I wasn't really even thinking about the camera angle, size, etc. I came up with a new camera angle I think I like based off what you and kram said. I'll let it render for a few hrs and post it.

Kram1032I don't really get what your saying. The best ratio is equal to 1.618 or -.618?
