WOODEN product visualisations
Re: WOODEN product visualisations
Hi
The glass is normal to reflect the environment suggest lowering the IOR and exponent. The wood seems to glow because despite the ceiling lights should be a bit 'in the shade.

Good images, but I have to say the one thing that brings the scene down a couple of notches for me is the horizon being far too low down. If you can't instinctively feel where the horizon should be, draw a couple of straight lines from parallell things in your scene. Where the lines intersect is where the horizon should be.
Contrary to common belief, the building height does not affect this noticeably unless you're at an altitude of 15 000 + meters or so.

Thanks Oscar, that's a very good hint I didn't have in mind!
As Ono already pointed out, my intuition seems to be lacking in some cases
Your painting is a really good explanation! If I have some time to spare, I'll search another backplate. The current one is too full of close-up vegetation at the bottom...

Here is a somewhat refined version.
Still not quite right cause the backplate is really just the hdri, there was no backplate and I am too lazy to render one.
The most fun was the rare chance of trying FakeShamus' awesome jacuzzi material, which takes way too long to clear btw

Very nice mood!
Maybe you'll need a cool blue fill light on the very left to lift up the blacks here... and another subtle rimlight maybe on the very right, like from an invisible lamp or something to get more edges and detail out of your models.
Plus, I want big white towels!

Re: WOODEN product visualisations
Thanks Zeitmeister!!
I'll try a good towel material. I had a big bademantel in mind!
And you're absolutely right, a blueish fill light is missing. So I went back to the scene to render it with different wood textures (customer liked the first render ), added a big soft box on the left, made it invisible to the camera.
BUT WHY IS THE REFLECTION NOT INVISIBLE?
My scene is full of glass, very hard to hide it... as a workaround I added another ceiling lamp.

Re: WOODEN product visualisations
The reflection always remains visible! It's only some sort of backface-culling of the geometry.

This was a collaboration with AS Tresen, we're spicing up some of their counters with glowing WOOD!

Hi polinalkrimizei, have you seen this (here in french, the video down the page doesn't relate: http://www.futura-sciences.com/magazine ... ent-62282/) ? They got wood transparent at 85% by chemically removing the lignine(fr) !

New product! Bathroom furniture - it actually has a "soft open" system attached, you press it gently, and it opens
