Casio Digital Camera

Post by Roger » Thu Dec 28, 2006 11:29 pm

Hi.

I've made a Casio Exilim EX-Z60 with Blender and I tried rendering it with Indigo. I finally got HDR (EXR) to work and I'm pretty pleased with the result. But I'd like to make a really interesting render wich looks convincing and attractive. Anybody have any tips or ideas on how to make a more interesting render? Here's a render I've made this night. (Nine hour render.)

____EDIT____

Here's the final, 20 hour render...

C&C is most appreciated!

And here are some wireframes.

So does anybody know how to make a more interesting render? Please think out loud :). I was thinking about putting some wood or something underneath the model, but I thought it'd only ruin the image.

Best regards

Sander Wit.

PS I'm currently rendering this:

I would say lose the HDR and use a studio lighting setup instead.
Looks really good if u can pull it off correctly.

Hi,

looks incredible,
I would reduce just a little the bumps ( I suppose you used a bump map to realise the brused material?)

some details, other objects and the wire to put the camera on the arm is missing, this would give much more realism.
congrats!

Thanks Nick and Phil. I will try a studio setup, though I'm not sure what's the best way to make such a light-setup...what's the best way in your opinion?

I've made the cord (before you mentioned it :P, you must've talked to me telepathically :)...) and I've changed the camera angle. The brushed-metal bumpmap is the same for I find it, after some rendering time, to look like it should. I'l keep it in mind if it will look odd.

Here's what I'm rendering now, I stopped the other one.
--EDIT-- IMAGE REMOVED - SEE FIRST POST --EDIT--
Hope this one will turn out nice. Next up is probebly a studio-light-setup.

Cheers

Sander

Wow  thanks a whole lot mates! I'm really glad you like it.

I'd really like to render it in a larger resolution and for a bit longer (so it'd be larger and with less grain) but my pc just can't handle it. Is there anybody who has a monster of a pc and the will to help me out with this?

Take care.

I only have an athlon 64 3800+ but my computer will have some free time next week, if you are interested!
I suggest 1600x1200

It may be cheesy, but be looking in the picture viewer and seeing the camera in another camera, in another camera....

Why am I currently working on excactly that? Because I'm cheesy? :D guess I am for I really am doing that, pretty much, but only once than: the camera, as is, seen on the screen of the same camera near the images' camera :P.

Anyway, glad you find it real-looking :).

Oh and Phil, stupid of me not to reply to you in the last post. Thanks a whole lot for the proposition, I will think it over though I'm pretty sure I'd love you to make a nice and clean render. Though if you are not possible to let it render for quite a long time, and therefor will keep some grain, I'm not sure if it's worth the effort for, as mentioned at Blender's Elysiun forum, grain is not appreciated in product-aimed renders...

So if you think your pc can menage a big render without grain, I'd really love you to do so!
