What GPU graphics card should I buy?

Hello
I work ad hoc on Indigo and it's not my everyday job. There are times when I do not render anything and sometimes I have to make several / a dozen renderings in a short period of time.
Which GPU card do you recommend currently (price / quality?)
Currently, card prices are falling, so maybe this is a good time to buy something before the next increases?
I currently have a GTX 760 + "Denoising" function and that's what saves me for the moment.
Please advise which card should I be interested in. As I mentioned, I am looking for a reasonable card (price / quality) and I do not want to overpay since I am not a professional.
What's better
GTX1080Ti + 11GB
if
RTX 3060 GAMING / RTX 3060 Ti + 12GB
if
RTX 3070 GAMIG / RTX 3070 Ti + 8 GB.
But is it worth paying for Ti? the price is growing significantly.
or maybe another card?

Hi, it depends what scenes you render. Are you sometimes limited by GPU ram? Go to the 12Gb. If you prefer as speed as possible go to RTX 3070TI with 8Gb.
For me is GPU ram more interesting. Better bit slower then nothing...I have 2080ti 11Gb and it is not enought for some scenes. 24Gb will be much better.

Those AMD are a bit slower but have usually more ram to play with

How do I find out how many ram do I need? And how much am I currently using?
What will happen when I buy a caste with, for example, 8GB and the needs will be greater?
I currently have a GTX 760 2GB: P and I'm not complaining.

Hello, I'm updating the topic.
Previously I gave up because of the card prices.
Now the prices have normalized a bit and we have a new 4000 series
what do you advise?
RTX 3060 GAMING + 12GB / RTX 3060 Ti + 8GB
if
RTX 3070 GAMIG + 8 GB / RTX 3070 Ti + 8 GB.
if
RTX 3080 GAMIG + 10 GB / RTX 3080 Ti + 12 GB.
if
RTX 4070 GAMIG + 12GB / RTX 4070 Ti + 12 GB.

the ram video is a plus, if you get 10% slower card your render still plays although a bit slower, yet if you get to the limit of ram it won't until you further optimize the scene

Thanks for the answer, but I don't know much about graphics card configurations, I render ad hoc.
Sorry, but I don't quite know how to read your advice...
I render simple scenes not vido.

nowadays you can have access to large objects through Quixel mega scans for example, my suggestion is that you go for a bit more of ram then speed 4070 12Gb vs 3080 10Gb you would get a faster and with more memory. You can also go AMD, just check the benchmark for their speed, their boards are cheaper and have more memory, sadly if you need any cuda related software they're a no go.
Here's a Table with price memory speed comparison. The first number after memory is for interior scenes and the second for exterior scenes. If you want to compare to your system you might download indigo benchmark
Code: Select all
Price Mem I.Scene O.Scene Board
$1099 24GB 23.250 57.782 GeForce RTX 3090
$999 24GB 24.427 55.916 RX 7900 XTX
$799 20GB RX 7900 XT
$839 12GB 20.384 52.608 GeForce RTX 3080
$849 12GB 19.848 52.056 GeForce RTX 4070 Ti
$599 12GB 15.072 45.590 GeForce RTX 4070
$600 16GB 17.246 38.688 RX 6900 XT
$499 8GB 14.141 39.630 GeForce RTX 3070
$540 16GB 16.039 37.268 RX 6800 XT
$414 8GB 10.901 31.868 GeForce RTX 3060 Ti

Thank you for your comprehensive message.
Where is CUDA used?
I've been rendering with the CPU for a while, but I discovered that rendering with the graphics card in my case is 2x faster than with the graphics card. Of course, there are probably some shortcomings.
I render scenes of glass objects. I know that using the processor, the effect is more natural. But lately I don't see the difference and I care about time...
I will add that because I already use an old graphics card, I also use a new trick in indigo.
This way accelerated my rendering several hundred percent.

And he allowed me to hold off on the investment.
Which card do you think would be better for me?
It's good that the card is universal for room scene renderings, including glass products.
And to have good results in games: p I haven't played for a long time, but since there will be a card, maybe I'll launch a strong title.
GeForce RTX 4070
RX 6900 XT
Well, unless I invest in a processor, I look towards Ryzen 9 7950X3D

Pretty much every 3D gfx software supports it, video editors... AMD also has its solutions, but since CUDA is around longer it has a bit more of support. Thankfully Indigo support both systems through Open CL.

It all depends on your budget, a 3090 while expensive, is a long term solution with its 24gb, it's about on par with 4080 but has more ram and it's cheaper!

GeForce RTX 4070
RX 6900 XT
That's a though decision, RX 6900 XT it is faster on the most complex scenes (13%) but about 84% of 4070's speed on lighter scenes, the thing, at that speed things will be cleaned in a hurry whichever card you choose, but you have 4 more gb of ram to mess with without having to worry with optimizations. You have RX 6950XT (I didn't include it since it had no benchmarks but should be about 7% faster) which gives you an extra oomph for a little more $ (635$), which might be the ideal solution for you.

You can also save some money now and get a lower tier cpu, and they're dropping the prices all the time, maximize on the GPU card which gives you so much more speed for 90% of the scenes, use denoise for the rest, and get a 7950X afterwards when the 8000 line up arrives and it drops even further, or even a 8900X...

Thanks for the comprehensive message.
What do you mean by "use denoise for the rest"
I do not work professionally in this industry, I only do something on an ad hoc basis.
Is this way OK?
https://www.indigorenderer.com/document ... /denoising
Or traditionally without this function?
But I don't see the difference and the effect in speed is huge.
I see on the indigo Benhmark website that there is an option to choose CPU or GPU and ALL
Is it possible to run rendering so that the CPU + GPU work at the same time?
Maybe it's a solution for me over real glass and reflections.

Path tracing is used on GPU, but it's not well suited for all the cases, for those who isn't you can always use the built in denoiser from indigo.

you might if you run two instances of indigo and then merge the igi...
