I am feeling very incompetent asking this, but i am oblivious to applying materials to render, i dont know how if you edit in blender or indigo and how to apply them to certain parts of objects
the tutorials given are very vague with what they cover and really doesn't go into this topic at all:x

Before you delve into it, perhaps state your experience with Blender, so we know what level we need to start at.
Are you familiar with UV mapping ?

I would help if you post problems in a more cohesive fashion so we know what exactly you are having a problem with. Screenshots do help, so do attached scenes etc.
