I am feeling very incompetent asking this, but i am oblivious to applying materials to render, i dont know how if you edit in blender or indigo and how to apply them to certain parts of objects :|
the tutorials given are very vague with what they cover and really doesn't go into this topic at all:x

Before you delve into it, perhaps state your experience with Blender, so we know what level we need to start at.
Are you familiar with UV mapping ?

I would help if you post problems in a more cohesive fashion so we know what exactly you are having a problem with. Screenshots do help, so do attached scenes etc.
