It's complaining about my leaves.

What is this I don't even:

A problem occurred with the scene:
ObjectExcep: Exception while building tree: BVH Build failure, too many triangles in leaf.

This is coming from the latest Skindigo (SkIndigo 3.0.10) to the latest indigo (Indigo Renderer v3.0.10, OS X 64-bit build).

Any theories? I can post up the mesh if you guys would like to take a look.

Yes, please post the mesh that is giving this error. This one has been quite elusive for some time.

I gave that mesh some leaves.

Meshes love leaves.

Just a hint, hopefully that'll help either what you've got the Indigo developers at your service already Fruitiger:

Every time I bumped into this error, I was using subdivisions with hard edged meshes. In that case the triangles will not be sewed together and will collapse under their density, creating in effect a whole lot of tiny triangles in a very small space, for each of the triangles composing the meshes !

Make sure that the meshes you are using subdivisions on have all edges smoothed out. If you need sharp edges you want then to use bevels, as per usual with subdivided meshes.

Also check your scene scale... apart that I never bumped into this error. Well I'll let fused and lycium get your scene, ma' it's big

I just looked at the file and there are quite a few meshes in that file. Any hint on which mesh it is failing exactly?

Or can you maybe send us the whole scene?

Cheers!

I just started messing around with subdivisions, displacement maps and "welding edges" so this sounds likely. I'm pretty sure I know which mesh it's unhappy with now.

Yeah, it's a huge file. Essentially, this is the design for an entire house and i just render straight out of our main design file, so it's not the most efficient little file in the world. We use it to test designs and generate renders for our client. It's nice to be able to work on the idea and then take it straight to a render. The downside is that on larger projects the main working file becomes somewhat ungainly.

I'm pretty sure it's either the exterior/interior walls or the drapes.
