I actually work on a small PhotoMatch Project for a customer... not as a real Job, but more to show that I can do it and get the next Project

I bought the C4D PhotoMatch Plugin for this... a great help for such projects!

my result isn't perfectly matching, but it is more about geting the (small rez) photo into 3D.

So here is the actual status of my progress, everything made by me besides the Vitra Chair and the oven is a Placeholder atm:

you are on the good way. Just some colors darkness and ior details to adjust, and adding some little details, but it is a great start.

Wow, very good work for the interior lights! Some parts of your render already looks the same as the foto!
Is there an emitter behind the glass shelves?

It is incredibly well aligned, did you use an image plane or something to line it all up? (I hope so )

This is maybe half the way to go. I'm focusing on modeling atm and just did some basic Indigo materials. The light setup is simply a (LowRes) EnvMap and some extra holes in the ceiling & the back for light to enter...

Yes some LED light... pops out to much in my image -.-

The PlugIn I use does all the job here.... works quite similar like sketchup PhotoMatch tool, but with more advanced features!

- white balance is off; your rendering is too blue, should be more green/yellow
- interior lights are too bright; the exterior should be a bunch brighter (it's overexposed in the photo)

Those are the two glaring differences, I'd say... Other than that, keep going!

Something I tried but didn't get managed to get done without overexpose the rest of the image
I have to try playing with the F-Stop values.... any tips here are welcome!

Your exterior image right now is a very saturated, primarily yellow, picture with sunlight coming from a clear direction. The exterior in the photo was taken on a cloudy day by the looks of it, which means very even diffuse light that is much paler than the golden sunlight in your image.

Try to get an image to match the exterior of the photo and go from there...

Hey Zom-B! I follow your topic with interest (..architectural subject )!
I disagree with Tom in this case: I can spot a shadow line outside, about 5 meters far from the window, I'd say (you can see that on the left of the outdoor vase). I think you only need a higher resolution EXR, without too much vegetation.
Just to be picky, your floor mat has too much bump IMO, or you modeled too thick joints; EXCELLENT material by the way!
Another idea about the materials: the white matte is very reflecting in the photo: I suppose it's some kind of laminated product, which has sort of a plastic coating or something similar; your mat is too blurry instead.

Pibuz is right, my bad. But the sun is coming from a different direction and the image is paler anyway, so you're getting a lot of pale skylight coming through the window.

I think to archive some perfect matching in lightning wont be possible for me ^^


Anyway I used the shadow of the oven as a matching point to align the sun (in the HDRI).
Since this photo is a studio photograph The are a lot of lightning going on behind the camera!

I have to close the temporal openings in ceiling and back of the room and go for some studio lights...

Here the final image done by the competitor I have to reach/match/beat:

a smaaaaaal update... not much time due to work atm

A few things I noticed.

1. The chair appears to be a little bit too tall

2. This area appears far too bright, it seems there is something blocking most of the light (and reflection) in the photo.

3. This area needs to be lowered a bit.

4. The background image is not bright/washed out enough, and the perspective seems a little off, you need to lower the horizon a bit.

5. Needs more reflectiveness

6. Needs to be lowered a little.

7. Missing sun ray

8. Cups in photo appear to have ridges

9. There are 7 large bowls in the photo, and there appears to be 8 in your render. There are 3 smaller bowls in the photo, and there appear to be 4-5 in your render.

10. All of these areas are too thick.

11. Rotate the fruit in the bowl 180 degrees, and scale down the fruit a little bit.

12. Counter top needs more reflectiveness

13. These drawers need more reflectiveness, and whatever the black area is in the photo seems to be missing in your render.

14. The gabs between all the drawers (And the 4 cabinets) need to be larger.

15. Lights should be yellow.

16. There appears to be windows behind the camera in the photo being reflected by this bowl, so some windows should be added behind the camera in your scene.

17. Needs more reflectivity.

18. No caustics on the wall from the wine glasses in your render, though they are fairly noticeable in the photo

19. Light in your render appears to have a purple-ish hue, but in the photo the light is blue.

20. This part of the frame needs to be moved slightly to the right.

21. In your render, this area is far too bright and attracts more attention than it should.

The biggest problem is to get the light from outside to match up with the photo.
I'm not aiming for a perfect 1:1 rerender, the target is to have the same kitchen not the same image... but I wanted to get as close as possible ^^

It's like spot the difference
