Observation room redux [Placeholder textures]

Well. I guess im just the type that likes to make things more complicated than necessary. Today, it hit me that I could just add in the background with photoshop in like 2 minutes.

I added a character model of mine in for scale. Yep, this is one big room. I know it's empty, but being an observation room, the focus would primarily be on whats outside and so I figured I should obstruct it as little as possible. .. Although a few more objects couldn't hurt.

Im still looking for some textures to give it a futuristic look. I want to make it feel like a place where humans could live comfortable.

The background here is basically that humans evacuated the earth and now live on a giant spaceship..

Nice idea but quite difficult... You should look Fx movie like "2001 a space odissey", a professionnal designer worked on "spaceship interior". Maybe you should find designed model in magazine, or maybe imagine a space eden, with grass and birds :)

I might be misremembering, but did 2001 have any scenes like this? I mean, what im going for a massive warehouse sized room where hundreds of people can watch the stars, etc.

Not bad, but surely you know how to reduce an image's size. 1.82 MB - you kiddin'?

Why not go for raw metal (custom phong or nk) with just bump ? I mean if you are aiming at a metallic look, a diffuse texture is not a good idea, ie use it as exponent map rather.

Sorry, for the size, stinky. I just got a new 19" monitor and Im really jazzed about it.

We all are. In fact, when the word hit the street you got yourself a nice, big monitor, everyone over here (Belgium) raced outside to start bonfires, light fireworks, etc. The whole nation was exstatic.

But still.

Update

I scraped the ugly tiling diffuse texture and replaced it with an nk/phong mix. I hope it's looking more like a place that someone could comfortably live.

image resizing is also good. besides smaller image resolution = faster render. at this stage i dont think such a high-res render is needed.

but definitely avoid using .png's

Sorry, I just wish indigo could render to JPEGS. I'll convert it though..

For a start, that's much more readable.

A big booh for that big, heavy, noisy pic. Cleaner and smaller would be 2x nicer ;)
