Here's what I've been working on for the past few days.

(there are more blades in the engines that I didn't render. hopefully very little light will get through when i add them)

Right now I'm working on the cockpit and I was thinking the person would lay in there and use a thrust lever on each side to control each engine, but now it looks crammed so I might go to a regular sitting up and down in a chair style. What do you guys think?

+1 for lay :D
Nice model! :)

Either way its going to look wicked but I do lean toward "lay" as it is likely to make the whole device seem a little more "speedy" :D

I was looking at it again today and I realized siting upright would be just as cramed, maybe more. Maybe I can combine the two styles together somewhat?

I started on some sort of scene today. I'm going for a pit lane garage type space. I'll post what I have so far once it's clear enough.

Got it clear enough.

There isn't much here yet, but I think it will look good when I start adding more.

For some odd (and unknown) reason, I had a flash of "The Dark Knight" when i saw your render

I kept thinking about that too while I was working on it :D

This is looking to be a great image once complete. Definitely one to spend the time on getting the little details right. Watching with interest :)

Thanks! Hopefully I can put in all the details I want, but I already maxed out my computers capability. I tried rendering with everything I have so far and I ran out of ram (everything is about 1.5mil verts).

I got rid of the rolling tool chest for some cabinets (lower left), I added some oxygen tanks (or any gas, maybe I'll shorten one for acetylene or something), and I made the garage door a little better.

Also on the air tanks does the valve handle on top look small?

Not really, depending on the depressurizer technology :) As a primary valve maybe, yes.

Did you use instances ? For the tanks, ceiling lamps etc... Also maybe some of the objects have an higher subsurf level than required ?

I guess it's a primary valve, but I'm not sure if I like how I have it set up right now. I might change it so it is more like a welding set (oxy acetylene torch). For now I'll make it a little bigger.

I'm using instances nearly everywhere I can. I can think of a few places the subsurf is probably to high so I'll check those tomorrow.

Also is using an array modifier like instancing? I'm using those in a few places temporarily (probably wouldn't make a difference though).
