Hmm, only rendering for about 1/2 and hours so far...
This is a very early version of my contest entry...so, yes, there are errors :p No textures yet, materials also suck.

Ok, well, everything in there was fluid sim, didn't feel like doing it by hand :p
Everything I learned about the fuild sim came from here:
http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/ ... Simulation
Its a good read, kept me going for a while.

Looks good, play with your fluid resolution / domain size though, the wine looks a little thick.

Update, changed alot of stuff, added some DOF too.

It's great! Only two things. Obviously the wine is a little slug looking but you already know that. Second maybe have the glass that the wine is being poured into tipped just a little as if the glass is being thrown off balance.
I like the drop of wine floating mid air and the DOF, gives it a great feel.

Hmm, I'm trying to fix the sluggish wine...not working :p I did increase the domain to like, .7, and I calculated the wine glass size inside the domain, it is correct...

To get rid of the sluggishness in liquids in blender you have to run the fluid sim at a much higher resolution, it's a bummer because it sureley takes a longer time to process, more memory and more HD space.
But I like your image a lot! Looks nice.

the bottle is a bit strange!
I think that the bottom should be rounder and the bottle a bit wider
and maybe the glass a bit thicker (maybe it's just a ior problem)
the liquit on the left seems too yellow to be white wine! I don't think that I ever drunk something of that yellow
I like very much the glasses, the effect you're achieving with the pouring wine and the good dof (I can't get that much blur... maybe I need to develop my scenes more in profondity)
I agree that the glass in front should be a little off balance
I hope that you can complete it in time

Hmm, when I put the rez of the fluid up to 200, it uses almost 900mb memory, I can't go much higher, since I only have a gig...
Must...find...workaround

ok, your inflow seems to be a little bigger for a wine bottle, maybe try reducing the size so the liquid flows more like a thin stream, this way you will have less liquid to process, because it looks like you are pouring wine with a hose, get an empty bottle, fill it with water and pour it and observe the stream then do some comparisons. Usually so the liquid flows out the bottle there has to be a space for air to go in to the bottle to push the liquid out.
200 in resolution is pretty high, I usually do 128-160 in tests ive done playing with blender, and I get nice results, maybe that's the deal in your case, to much liquid pouring to be processed.
Good Luck!!!

Thats where I run into problems, I wanted to the the "big splash" effect, like the wine was engulfing the glass, but Ill try to get a trade off, once I finish my homework that is :p

you can place an obstacle at the mouth of the bottle that could be hidden and take half the space of the mouth, where air would flow in, then just render it hidden. I'm not sure, just an idea....

Give the "wine" a slight velocity going into the side of the glass.
In addition to (default) -z.
Make your inflow smaller, and make the inflow actually hit an obstacle, instead of just falling. When you pour, real liquid falls in an oval shape from a bottle, not a forceful circle.
Your wine bottle appears too tall. Check your scale.. measure a real bottle if you have to.
Finally, what happened in the back of the scene? It's confusing to the viewer for there to be the results like that. Did an animal knock the glasses over? Etc.

I just played with the mesh for the liquid, and make it look less sluglike.
I think Ill get rid of that painting, or at least replace it.
@zsouthboy: I don't know, I just figured it looked cool, and I can't really think what else to put back there... :p
