Hi, this is just a quick render of an case i constructed for my speaker amp. For size comparison i included some 6mm-screws and the matching screwdriver. Actually there exists no real screwdriver like this, so i grabbed my cross-slot one and modelled another head

It should be as simple as possible (on/off and volume adj. via push rotary switch) yet good looking

Also forgot to turn on normal smoothing on the front screws, but doesnt seem to matter at this resolution.. I will post some other pictures of my already finished model (and the screwdriver) later..

from a rendering point of view it looks really nice. Nice LEDs

From a product point of view, I wouldn't have the screws on the front sticking out - countersink them flush with the fron panel

Also, perhaps only light up half of the ring of lights around the knob - like a rotary volume indicator ?

yes the countersink suggestion came also to my mind, i'll try to model this in the next revision. from a mechanical point of view, this is kinda hard to accomplish, because the gap from screw to side panel is quite small so one has to take care of not to break the wood apart (build out of mdf in german).

the inner ring cut in the aluminium plate is designed to act as a volume indicator, as just suggested i think the material chosen for the diffusor behind the alumium is not yet satisfiing, next revision is gonna get a more realistic one.

anyone modelled a simple led lightsource? i'd like to compare it to mine

Managed to take a photo of the second amp..
Not yet precisely cut, polished or cleaned up anyway since there is still lots of work todo. The metal used in here was the cheaper steel plate 1mm thick. In the final model i'll be using more expensive aluminium, but i think the resemblance is quite clear

Sure all that fancy stuff just like in the render..
Perhaps i switch to a more decent lighting, but the overall image stays the same. When i got some spare time i'll try to mill the front plate and the slots for the plexi, add some paintwork and voila. It would be also nice to mill the case completely out of an aluminium block (+anodizing), but this isnt avaible to me, no access to an cnc mill
