Yet another interior scene

Still alot of work to do. Except the sofas and the textures everything is my own stuff/design.

I'm not too happy with the speaker material (so colourful) and with using the same texture on furniture and floor/ceiling/wall. A bit overused maybe.
And maybe someone has an idea how I could do a material for the speaker cover.
http://nubert.de/zoom/nb_bg_farben.jpg That's the material used in reality.

The renderings could need more time :( , rendered on a 2.6 GHz Athlon 64 X2. I denoised the renderings, which was a bit bad for the details, but the noise was awful.

Nice pics, beware on using too much bump... My eyes are hurt by so many straight lines 8) Mainly the differences between beveled or not edges makes a big difference to me, he !?!

Lol, before I scrolled down to see your post, I knew, the first thing anyone's going to say, will be "bevel those edges" in one way or the other^^

You can simply reduce the saturation of your speakers and the colour should be fine ;)

try using a dark grey phong with ior 1.2, exponent 500 , with a bump map like this..

did a quick test and it's ok, i think.. just set the texture scale to fit your object..

Nice images!

Should have seen it coming  Yeah, some objects weren't beveled. Changed that now, I hope I didn't forget anything.
I've also reduced bump a bit now. Will have to wait for the next pictures.

I tried reducing saturation, but probably not enough. Reduced it a lot now, curious how it will turn out.

Thanks Marcofly, that looks pretty good. I'm currently rendering a test with beveled edges and your material :)

The following renderings are from before doing these changes. Thought I'd share them nevertheless.

hum, strange...
Could it be, that the new camera bloom increased again the amount of fireflies?

I like the cell phone: It's perfectly bevelled :P

In my opinion, the TV still is too edgy... It looks sooo solid.
Like an LCD or a plasma with the depth of an old screen...

Hey Kram, are you mocking someone now ?
Could it be, that the new camera bloom increased again the amount of fireflies?
Or the IES...

No, just a question. It might be, as it's something new. New stuff usually changes old stuff... and one single line of code could destroy everything.

Yeah, or the IES... OR BOTH O.o

:P It's a multifunctional cell phone, you can use it to shave as well, so the edges need to be razor sharp. :P

Not sure if the camera bloom is the reason, or maybe IEM. I think the reflections on the speaker make for the fireflies, but like that?

Hm, the TV is about 10 cm thick, I think for such a large screen that is ok :) It's a rather... uh, simple and solid design, but I can't think of anything better looking/better fitting in this scene.

I'm currently doing the kitchen and dining room... still a lot to do. :(

yeah, it'll be a long time render, indeed...
But now, the models look pretty nice :)

I dunno... I think, flat screens are flatter than 10 cm. I mean, it depends... but still...

I think the thinnest is about 1 cm now... but I think that is pretty insane. Maybe I'll make the LCD thinner, though big ones are not THAT slim. Hm, now that I think about it... the 32" that my parents have should be about 8-10 cm thick, though the thickness varies, at the corners it is slimmer. At least that's what my memory tells me, can't check right now. At least it's not the slimmest.

The one in the rendering looks massive also because of the material and the blocky design I think.

yeah, that might be it...
try to deblock the design :D (the material maybe too, but I guess, the design does most)
If that TV wouldn't be able to show trueres (higher than ultrahighres^^) + full dynamic range (FDR, better than HDR xD) and full-3D images, I wouldn't buy it, with that design^^

damn looks fine.

Where do you all get this nice textures. I really need to take out my Nikon DSLR and make some nice textures. Lightsetup in Indigo always look great so what you need next are great textures in my eyes but there are very few good free available.

There are a lot of good photos on www.cgtextures.com
Most of them cannot be used in their raw form but with a bit of work in Photoshop (create bump and spec map, make tileable, etc.) you can do wonders with them. A lot of hard-core commercial artists use them as the starting point for their textures. Well worth a look!
