One light and two shadows!

Hi
It may sound strange but it is so but it's not a trick!
We Cinema4D and after having placed the chair on the set with curved background I created a light object: create> disc.
The disc is a circular ring, activating the slice command remains the top which was given an emissive material or the light, the one and only.
From the screen it comes from Cinema 4D you can appreciate two shadows due to the annulus emissive. In practice the two extreme sides of the annulus produced two shadows as if there were two lights.
In the other image the crown was then moved to the right side of the scene with an interesting shadow and the object etched well.
I hope this starting point can be better understood by the friends of the forum.
Indigo4 CPU rendering, 1h.
Thank you!

Hm, I think that is most likely correct shadow behaviour.
Nice scene by the way, though you should try three point lighting.

I remember I used an open portion of a torus for lighting (from the inner side) and got similar results. Curvilinear lightings seem to do this.

area lights aren't one only light, but a multitude of small lights...

They used to be, and not with Indigo anyway ? It's real surface emission nowadays isn't it. I'm certain of what I remember about weird shadows from twisted emitting surfaces !

light interference with itself? As you have places where there's light and the hole... quantum indigo? xD

Hi
In fact we would have had the same two shadows?
Or Indigo is in crisis on particular emissive forms?
The world of light area deserves to be investigated because it may hold pleasant surprises.
Otherwise it is just only recommend square / rectangular shapes because other forms can lead to misleading results.
So instead of an object bend replace it with a number of other small emissive objects that follow the curvature.

The result is most certainly correct. It will make sense if you think about it a little.

Have you tried rendering it on c4d render? I bet it gives you the same result, shadow wise...

c4d behaves just the same

The reason is tricky to explain, better if you do it yourself: animate the rotation of the shape clockwise around its center.
The vertical portions of the emitting half-thing are catching up with the vertical legs. It should show up if you rotate either.

Hi
The scene as 4 lights but only two activated Indigo gui, the secret is in the light balance.

Hi contegufo, try making one light cold and one warm in colour for a more interesting mood.
