Hi, there, I've just working on some test today after I saw the Material Test done long time ago by Filippo Scarso , First I'd like to test what he has achieved before---by easily changing the Opacity directly in SketchUp to manipulate the rendering result, but I failed so bad....everything is not what I expected. I found out that the result might looks different based on the shape of the object as well as the render methods.

- Bidirectional Path Tracing
and this Dark one

- Bidirectional with MLT
Better this way

- Path Tracing
and this

- Path Tracing with MLT
Then I made a test between different Opacity, but....it appears not that Ok to me.
First this

- Opacity 13 for all objs
and it turns out like
then I tried to push it to test limit

- opacity 1 for all
and it look like
Big Black Hearts.....
Help me with this?

About black hearts....I think they are not closed volume or some bugg apeared which don't provide it as closed volume...really dunno, try exploding the hearts out of the group and paint it with water color from both sides of face. I had similar problems sometimes even with cube and I do things I mentioned...epxlode them > test, if its same paint it from both side with water material. Hope this helps

In the opacity case, could you post the igs code that is produced in both cases (opacity=1 and 13)?
Thanks
Etienne

Sadly I had a really bad habit that is deleting all the .igs file after done rendering to save some extra space..I admit that sounds a little bit OCD...But I'll redo the tests and post the detail information, thanks!
