Pibuz, it's done in Houdini. Fell insanely in love with it.
In this case it's foreach subdivision, so polygons have different size. Then sliced and rotated to give it different fields and then extruded with tons of functions, so it does all kinds of funky stuff.
Not rendered in Indigo, but prob more clear what it's doing in the first test.
