If you are planning on making this for real then you are going to need to design some way of taking lateral loads; something like a cross brace at the rear. At the moment it won't take any load from the side.

You are right, the sketchup model have not all of the details, because it was originally intended only to transfer the shape of the lying area from a commercial one (photo from internet) to my wooden board (with a beamer).

In the meantime I have finished moste of the wood working, and here is a photo (not rendered, I hope I'm allowed to upload a real photo? ) of the intermediate result.

Wow, that was quick! It looks a lot more stable now.

What do you mean a 'beamer'? Is that some kind of laser used to burn the shape of the chair to the wood or projector?

Anyway, I look forward to seeing it completed! Keep us updated.

Of course I used a projector  to portray the shape on the wooden board with a pencil. The next steps (mainly to upholster) will last longer, but I will show the result here...

Very nice work you did on it! I like the design too, it's interesting to see how something is in 3D in comparison to real life, thanks for the post! Oh yeah, and tell us if it sits comfortable :D

Cheers!

Thank you! Yes it is very comfortable, but I was only allowed to try the chair some minutes, since then, my wife and children occupied it...
