Indigo Renderer Forum

Hi All,
This release has a fancy new Installer for the Windows versions of Indigo.
The installer copies the Indigo files by default to Program Files / Indigo Renderer.
It also creates a desktop shortcut to Indigo.exe, and start menu shortcuts.

Indigo Scene files (.igs) should also now be associated with Indigo, so double clicking on them should load the scene in the Indigo GUI.

Please try out the new version, and let me know if the Installer works. Also, can you please post the OS (XP / Vista, 32 bit / 64 bit etc..) that you tested on.

The license agreement seems a little screwed up

1. You may want to clarify that this is for the non-licensed version

Could not open 'C:\Program Files\Indigo Renderer\licence.sig' for writing.

That was from the lovely little dialog that opened up when I attempted to verify my license. OS Vista x64. Vista is really weird with writing to Program Files...seriously weird permissions stuff in Vista, got to do things juuuust right or no banana.

Ahh yeah, stupid Vista.
I guess I'll have to write all the stuff like renders, tree cache, licence.sig somewhere else.

Where do you think would be a good place to write it? I always write material preview thumbnails and IGS files to the Indigo directory. Obviously, this creates problems on Vista if the user has installed Indigo in the Program Files directory. I would like to change this, but I don't know where the best place to put the files would be.

Hi Whaat, I think I'll put the writeable files in the 'appdata' directory.
This is something like "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data" on XP, and "C:\Users\Nicolas Chapman\AppData\Roaming" on Vista.

I installed it under Vista x64, but not in program files. works for me because of that. will try to install it on XP tomorrow.

NSIS can also change Directory permissions on install.. maybe that helps to fix that Vista annoyance?
