New Violet source repository

Post by dougal2 » Fri Nov 30, 2007 6:03 am

With Ono's permission, I am now hosting the Violet source on SVN.

I have committed the .zip file that was posted back in august, and it is available from

https://svn.hamsterfight.co.uk/svn-violet/trunk/

Anyone can do an SVN checkout from that URL.

If you want commit permissions, please PM me.
BE WARNED: I am not myself participating in Violet development (at the minute, anyway) and I will indiscriminately give commit permissions to anyone who asks for it.

I am also not going to co-ordinate any development efforts. You're on your own kiddos ;)

I hope this gives some of you an opportunity to move Violet forwards. :)

Would it be possible to make it work with v1.1.5 igis?

I'm going to take a look at the code. Is the v1.1.5 igis likely to change more before the next stable release?

I think it would be best to wait for the release then before putting any effort into the code. Will give me some time to refresh my cpp anyways.

Because if it's developed further, it sure will be used, and not only by Indigo users !!! Mmmh, well, if they bother with updating their igi output as well :?

If you're not using indigo, you don't have an igi therefore it wouldn't work? unless his igi file format is similar/same as another type of file from another renderer, which I doubt.

The next version of Indigo will have an integrated tone-mapping GUI, so Violet is obsolete.
Since it's open source, of course anyone can use if for anything they want however.

Oh shit Ono, I wasn't expecting that! (knowing your.... disdain for GUI related tasks :D)

 :D
Yay! I think, now the very last things, Indigo can NOT do, are particles and some special animation stuff (like motion blur)

I wonder if you surprise me with that in the next post xD (before I already read about multilight....)
