mac material

Hi all,

I am afraid I am new to Indigo but amazed at the effects even I can achieve just using default settings + Sketchup.

I am trying to create a "mac look" material which I think is described as "anodised aluminium" - a matte with no scratches. I can find brushed aluminium but it is not quite the effect I am after. Playing with the shader cords just gets me into a mess quickly.

Could anyone please share if you have created something similar ?

Thanks,

tom

You can try using the default Aluminum metal material and then lowering the Exponent to 20 or so. You might also want to try a very slight bump map. I'd try to mock one up by my desktop is all packed away at the moment.

Hi,

Sorry for a simple question But..

I choose Aluminum then uncheck "NKdata" and set Exponent to "Sketch up" and 20. That looks like it has an effect.

It doesnt seem to matter however what value I enter for "bump" - it still appears the same. What value do you suggest ?a very slight bump texture would be nice.

Thanks,

Are you trying to create a material such as this one?

If so, I had a little spare time.

Very nice, Godzilla. That's exactly what I was thinking of doing so I'm glad it worked. :D I'd test it out if my desktop were set up at the moment. Are you going to upload it to the material database? (you should :p)
