i came to this idea thru the discussion in this thread.
as open sourcing the matDB code is not an option for now:

INDIGO MATERIAL DATABASE COMPETITION

this competition is about creating html templates(i guess for the non-webdesigners something photoshopped is ok, too) for the matDB, you do the looks and i put it in the DB
there are four categories with the following restrictions:

- mainpage left menu
*there are no restricitons for this category, let your creativity flow!

- material view
*the material image has to be 350x350 pixels
*the example preview images (4) have to be max 100px wide or high

- material list elements (eg the materials on the main page)
*the material image has to be 110x110 pixels

- the missing link
*this category is for pages/features you are missing in the matDB, this can be ANYTHING
*there are no restrictions


you do not have to post entries for all categories!

the best templates will be decided by vote, but i think ono should have the last work on it.
if your template makes it in the db you will be of course credited.


i really hope this is of interest for any of you!

hehe, i wouldnt have expected too much

maybe ill do something myself later. (dont expect too much, actual matdb is already as fancy as i can get )

just wait a bit longer, there will be suggestions, methinks
