Tried to follow CTZn's MarbleStudio2D but it keeps getting me an error.
Hey I did that one too pixie 8)

I mean to do a "VelvetStudio2D" thingy but it's too complex not to require shared parameters, wich seem to be on their way. A normal shader would indeed be more efficient than bump mapping with this approach, I for one need training in this regard.

I'll have a look at your code !
dcm wrote:very nice test, but they looks kinda plastic for my eye, maybe some small tweaks should help.
I think that what galinette is showing to us here are new material types, not just an Indigo material with procedural parameters we would use like the ones mentionned above. It's not Indigo anyways :)

I'm pretty sure one could do a blend shader similar too this fresnel trick.

+1

I was asking for a new SHADER TYPE ages ago. At that moment, the topic seemed to have being dropped down (I think there were higher priorities back then). NOW IS THE TIME!

Wich is getting you an error ? The marble studio ? Because your file is doing fine here (3.4.2).

It must have been using the cached one. It indeed works! :D

My bad! As the most elaborated materials out there are from you I assumed this to be also the case, namely when I saw those materials pictures you posted.

No big deal it's for correctness, otherwise my ego can take that kind of mistakes ;) I'm more on the emulation side, there's something fool with competition (thieves etc ;P). By the way thanks for the mention Etienne !

Anyways good job pixie, this shader FROM ME haha was designed against a fixed geometric size and it therefore requires adaptation for arbitrary meshes. You are handling it quite well, congratulations about the technical steps ahead you took !

Lovly!

Is that some new material model like Cook–Torrance, Ward, whatever,
or some ISL based magic?

Yup, it's a new material type.
