Dry Cracked Ground and a Marble texture

Post by ieatfish » Thu Jun 02, 2011 12:26 pm

I found this site and am making some textures from some of them. I've attached two that I like and what I've done so far. If you could download them and give me some feedback, that would be great. If they end up to be good enough, I'll upload them to the library. Since I'm using Sketchup at the moment, I don't really have a way to set any UV coordinates for the test scene so they are scaled too far down.

I also emailed the guy just to be sure and he was fine with using the textures so I'll be uploading these to the library when I get them to where I like them.

Did you get a chance to try them?

Good link, thanks :)

Tried your textures very quickly, they look pretty much ok to me. Not 100%sure if the cracked ground should be quite that phong, although I suppose its a sort of dried clay substance so would have a bit of reflectivity? That kind of ground always feels diffuse and dusty to me, but I could be wrong. Perhaps needs some kind of small displacement map on it too - I had a quick go but maybe not!

Good stuff though thanks for sharing.

With displacement, although I'm not convinced...

Thanks for trying them out! I thought the ground material was a diffuse or oren-nayar (can't remember at the moment). I'll have a look at it later to see. I was scaling the ground texture up to around 6" for each 'piece' which seemed to be a good scale. I also tried a displacement map but it seemed bump was almost the same.
