Help create the SkIndigo Wiki - suggest a FAQ

Hi,

To help build the SkIndigo documentation Wiki, this thread is for you to suggest questions to be added to the FAQ.
What questions are you SO tired of being asked on the forums? Please post them here and/or add them directly to the Wiki. Heck, i don't even care if you answer the question or not, just post it so we can get something started!

EVERYONE is welcome to edit the Wiki. That means YOU!

One thing to remember: IMO, the Wiki should apply to the latest stable release of Indigo/SkIndigo. That means, whatever you post should be valid for SkIndigo 1.0.9. It is a losing battle to try to keep the wiki up to date with the test releases.

I'll get things started with a few FAQs:

- How do I use exit portals?
- How do I resume a render?
- How do I use materials from the Indigo Material Database?

I have put these questions into the SkIndigo wiki FAQ. Is anyone brave enough to answer them?? :) :)

Hi Whaat! Smart idea!
I'm actually writing a PDF file by myself (you have already seen a preview), but i can post you the doc for you to check my mistakes first!
I'm actually at page 3 now, and i'm pretty convinced my text will last till page 6 at least.. I want to finish this work in a week.

Basic shader parameters w/ examples would be nice
SO like IOR, exponents, exponent maps, fresenal, the different phase functions, etc.

How to make painted metal/glass.

How to fix glass that renders dark.

How to assign textures to a curved surface.

A few examples of blend mats.

great idea, I will write about the exit portal.

ok, I added in an answer for the Exit Portals. First time editing a Wiki or trying to do something like this, so let me know what you think!

Nice job, crojack! Great sample pic, too! I hope people are not afraid of making mistakes in the Wiki. Anything that I feel is incorrect, I (or someone else) will simply edit.

well, that's why I was hesitant at first, but if you don't make mistakes, you never learn!

please edit anything that's wrong, and I'll keep adding stuff when I feel confident I can help.

I'm not sure on these topics myself, but I'm sure some people can write about them:

- Displacement Mapping

- And details about which type materials can be blended (like materials with displacement mapping, or lights applied or things like that)

A bigger pic to illustrate the information contained in the wiki might be helpful..

The difference between RGB and blackbodies..
