SkIndigo 1.1.12

Lots of subtle and not-so-subtle changes in this release. My hope is that the new texture system will be as intuitive as previous versions but even more versatile with the ability to easily reference high-res external textures. I tried to achieve a good balance between functionality and WYSIWYG.

Another goal of this release was to make emitting materials much easier to use. The interface for emitting materials should be pretty familiar to past users who are accustomed to using RGB and Blackbody Light materials (which are now obsolete)

Feedback on these changes is appreciated.

#Version 1.1.12

#Changed: Mapping system completely reworked. External or internal textures can now be used.
#Changed: Albedo can now be any texture or a custom shader
#Changed: Blend maps can now be any texture or a custom shader

#Added: Specular Reflectivity maps and custom shader support
#Added: support for clip map shaders

#Fixed: displacement maps with clip maps and blended materials
#Fixed: automatic blending of diffuse and phong materials with diffuse transmitters when 0<SUopacity<100

#Changed: base emission now determined by emitter color or temperature value
#Changed: updated preview scenes to work with emitting materials
#Changed: re-added emitter presets
#Added: power and efficacy to emitting materials
#Added: IES support to emitting materials
#Removed: Blackbody and RGB Light material types - use emitting materials instead

#Changed: messed around with instancing - instancing can now be enabled for groups
#Changed: You can now change instancing properties for all selected groups or components simultaneously
#Added: support for non-uniformly scaled instances

#Fixed: Animation - forced to use Indigo Console for animation
#Added: option to smooth animation transitions

#Changed; re-added max subdivisions to UI
#Changed: preview thumbnail background color set from material color
#Changed: groups of material attributes can now be collapsed by clicking on the appropriate heading

Most of these changes have NOT been thoroughly tested. Please, let me know of any bugs.

Enjoy!

EDIT: Fixed group export bug. New version attached.

Hey, guys: just testing! :D :D :D
Instances and dummies seem not to work if the component or group has sub-groups or sub-components. Just to know: is it supposed to work like this, or I am doing something wrong?

When hitting the render button, nothing happens.
At the bottom of the SU screen it says "Collecting faces-level 0" and then nothing.....

Anyone else experiences this?

YES!
JUST LOGGED TO REPORT!
..i don't know why, but if a set a very simple scene, it renders; but if a try a more complex scene, same thing as Kwisten. I try exporting separately the groups and the components, and they render, but it seems it's impossible to render the entire scene.

Can you please post a sample SKP file that doesn't render so I can take a look. Also..are there any error messages in the Ruby Console??

Thanks

When I click on the link to download those new preview scenes I get a page telling me that the page I'm looking for doesn't exist.

Any way to fix this problem?

Thanks,
Ryan

I guess there are still some problems with the website. I need a temporary host for the preview scenes until the site is completely fixed. The scenes are too large to attach to a post (unless I split them...)

How long do you need them to be hosted? If you want to send them to me on IRC I can prolly host them for you for a little while.
