Laubwerk and skindigo?

Post by Pixelflix » Mon Jan 09, 2017 3:53 am

Hi guys,

does anyone know, if skindigo is supporting the new plugin for Laubwerk? I tried to render some free trees. Unfortunately indigo just renders the preview-geometrie of the tree, which is shown in sketchup. Is there a button I missed to click or does the plugin just not work with skindigo?

Enclosed a link to a youtube-video of the plugin:

Thanks for help!

Hi Pixelflix,

I also saw their great plugin and asked them via mail if SkIndigo will be supported. By now the plugin does not work for Indigo. They answered that there is a good chance of supporting SkIndigo, because Skatter already works fine. Unfortunately there is no date for a release...

Perhaps some of the devs could ask them too? Their tool would be really a great easement for all SkIndigo users!

There seems to be a similiar issue with Forester for C4D.
The thing is that the Plugin doesnt export the highres meshes at render time correctly; it's a coding issue.
Maybe you should ask Laubwerk at this.

Thank you for the information. Sad news, but let´s hope the best for the future ;-)
This plugin would be really nice. Right now my biggest issues when creating outdoor-
visualisations are trees, because I have to inserte them in photoshop. Are there maybe
other effective ways to work with 3d trees in sketchup/indigo?

Greetings,

This is what they mailed to me one month ago:

Thank you for the demand and your interest in Laubwerk Plants. We definitely plan the support for additional renderers! Except for Thea, however, no one is quite sure. The reason for this is that we can not yet estimate the mark coverage of different renderers. Furthermore, certain technical requirements must be met by the renderer so that we can offer an integration at all. In addition, we will give the renderers, which we also support on other platforms, a certain precedence.

However, since Indigo also exists on most of the platforms supported by us, I would claim that the chances are quite good. ;-)

I got an answer from Laubwerk. To sum up: they told me the same as Lape. Right now the plugin only works with Vray. They are planning to implement further renderers but it seems, that indigo does not fullfill all technical requirements at the moment.

So let´s hope the devs are going to install these requirements one day ;-)

Any idea what those requirements may be? :)

Here is the latest answer:

Unfortunately we are not so fast. We are working at the moment
at support for Thea and Maxwell, after that we can look at other
renderer. After this we will check if Indigo fullfills the
technical requirements.

We work as fast as we can, but in any case it will unfortunately
take some time.

Regarding the quite similar issue with Forester4D, it is a false flag within C4D with something export at render time; it has nothing to do with Indigo directly.
Maybe fused could say something about that.

Hi,
as I can see, there are no news about possible progress, so I tried to contact Laubwerk yesterday. This is what they told me:
"Hi Martin
We would love to eventually support as many renderers as possible. However, Indigo is unfortunately not a renderer we are currently actively working on, so don’t hold your breath just yet. Unfortunately adding renderers is quite a bit of work and usually requires the renderer vendor to make changes as well.
That’s why these things take a bit..."

Could some of the developers possibly ask them?
