Playing around with Indigo demo. Very impressed considering I did nothing other than click render. But two questions - why the line of light at the point where the carpet (displaced) meets the wall and what to do about the fireflies?
Thanks in advance

Hi arail!
The displaced geometry is a bit tricky. Try making a group/component of your carpet, and then place it over your floor. Review a little the displacing parameters, because at the moment the approximation is too low, and you end up with a slightly bumpy surface. To have "continuous" surfaces displaced together (say a stone wall corner, eg) there are some techniques. This isn't your case, btw, because you want the carpet to be displaced. This should be easier.
Fireflies come from wrong render method maybe: try with a MLT algorithm.

+1 what Pibuz said.
You can also try a higher supersampling factor. If you used Indigo's default 2 then raise it to 3.
Also with those relatively thin, even glass structures you may want to try the glass acceleration feature to clear the noise more quickly in the transparent shadows on the wall.

Thanks for the replies.
I reset the scene as per your advice and left for work. Will see the results when I get back this evening.
Is this the mythological 'one button rendering app'?

No, it's not. Darn close, though.

Hello here's another question.
My glass material does cast shadow (100% shadow) and I don't know why. It's a "Glass" preset from the Indigo presets (0% opacity). In SU with shadows turned on it doesn't cast shadow, but in Indigo it does.

Check the meshes normals direction and make sure to use glass materials on volumetric panes only, not single faces.

The faces are all facing outside (all are white) and it's not a single face, but 5 mm wide glass. Hm.

If you want plain glass, you don't need to use the one on the database. Just set a very slight blue colour as a Sketchy material, turn the opacity to something about 5 and you're done. No complicate messing around with parameters..
EDIT: sorry, I misread preset with database

I must be still sleepy....
BTW, no need to use presets either, though it's still curious the glass preset doesn't work for you...
I had similar problems some time (..years?) ago when I applied the glass material to a box, and then mirrored it: the mirrored copies rendered completely black. But it was a very old SkIndigo issue, should be completely gone with the current version.

Thanks CTZn & Pibuz, but I still can't manage it out, so I post some images.
So here's SU:
and here's what I get in Indigo, it's a quick 3 minutes render.
Notice the shadows (on the white wall) in SU and in Indigo, I don't want the roof to cast that shadow. On the beams there appers a little bit light through the roof, but too few. I tried to thicken the roof to 1mm but it didn't help.
Maybe u have another idea how to improve the render? The roof should look like plastic panels called "lexan" (see image below).

render method: BiDir MLT?
glass acceleration ON?

Yes if you are using GPU you should definitely use 3.0.12 and activate Glass Acceleration from the UI (Render Settings pane, below Render Mode).

Out of curiosity, are you using a glossy transparent material?

Tracing method: BiDir MLT
Glass acceleration: ON
and the material is Specular, would be better Glossy Transparent?
