Winners of April-May 2009 competition
Hi all,
We are pleased to announce the winners of the April-May 2009 Indigo Competition.
The task for the competition was to model and render a water jug.
You can view the entries here:
http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... =14&t=5707
Thank you to everyone who entered - there were some amazing entries this competition.
1st Prize - Schosch
I really like the natural lighting in this image, and think it's fantastic that it's from a home-made HDR image. The jug itself is very nicely modelled with interesting reflections and refractions evident.
2nd Prize - zeitmeister
A great technical render here, with bubbles, dispersive glass/water, and light-transmitting lemon slices. The composition is also very professional and stylish.
3rd Prize - suvakas
Another great piece of modelling and composition, with nice bubble streams and reflections and refractions.
Once again, thank you to everyone who entered.

Not to take anything away from those that won but I must admit I'm surprised not to see mastas offering in the top 3... meh personal opinion I suppose

Are we allowed to upload the renderings to the gallery now?
I really would like to see them, and especially not just the winning entries, in the galleries...

It was almost a tie for third, but Nick pipped masta. Matsta's render was really awesome. Picking the top three is not taking anything away from the other entries - they were all excellent. It's just kinda unlucky two renders looked so similair (especially when Matsta was the first out of the gate).

Re: Winners of April-May 2009 competition
In fact I modeled my limes at 9th of may... I definately wasn't influenced by matsta. If you want to take a look at the picture below, this has been my reference.
I kicked out the window scene completely because of lighting problems, not to get close to matsta's idea. You can see the latest version (19th of may) with the window here:

And maybe you can understand what I mean.
I didn't ever plan or wanted to copy matsta's idea, to be honest I think that his light setup comes out more atmospherical than mine.
I'm sorry that I conveyed this impression maybe to some people here, but it's simply incorrect.

Well I must say you did a great job of modelling that real Water Jug. Yours looks almost exactly like the real thing - limes included!. Nice work.zeitmeister wrote: If you want to take a look at the picture below, this has been my reference.
Not sure about copying ideas... think you already know my thinking about this there are very few original things left to do
